The name "shrimp boat" in this case is an oxymoron. Unlike a sleek sailboat, this is a big rugged work boat designed to drag huge nets on the ocean floor. Out of the water she takes on a beauty all her own. Hardly yacht club surrounding but charming in its own way. I started with a pastel/alcohol underpainting and built up color and value by layering on dry pastel.
