September 6-10, 2010 (9-1) — Join Michael Chesley Johnson at his studio gallery on Campobello Island, New Brunswick (Canada) and on the Maine Coast for his fifth summer teaching en plein air workshops! Time Travelers, For Children in Grades 3-5

With both 2-D and 3-D media, as well as games, they will learn about the cultures of the ancients. We will start with Paleolithic Cave paintings and end in the Modern era. Basic Foundations to painting
September 12-14, 2010 (9 am to 6pm) — The foundation for a successful painting relies on a strong composition, good placement of values and best use of color. Each participant will start with a simple contour drawing, from that we will produce a value drawing, and finally we will do a color study and discuss how to mix clean vibrant colors using a limited color palette and color schemes which will complement the value plan and lead us to a successful painting.
