Fun and Fabulous Holiday Ornament Making (Ages 9 through Adults)
December 5, 2009 (9:30 - 11:30 am) — This timely fused glass class is very exciting, visually stimulating and tons of fun. Working with beautiful glass, a few simple hand tools (glass cutter, safety glasses, etc.) students will learn the techniques to fuse glass. Amazing one-of-a-kind ornaments will then be created to place on your tree, or to give as a beautiful gift this holiday season. The class focus is on the joy of creation, however, glass cutting techniques, studio safety, and properties of glass will be covered. Students will need to return to the studio another day to pick up their work. Price includes all supplies and firing. Wildlife Photography
December 5, 2009 (1:00-5:00 PM) — In this comprehensive seminar you will learn photography tips and techniques to improve your wildlife photos. The seminar is for photographers of all abilities and will discuss equipment, technique and etiquette. The seminar begins with some class room time and a slide presentation. The last hours of light are spent along the Uncompahgre River walk where we seek out wildlife to photograph practicing what has been learned. Hopefully we will be fortunate enough to capture the local bald eagles! Richard Durnan is a professional freelance photographer. His travel adventures and unique perspective have allowed him to create striking and sensitive images of spectacular landscapes and unique cultures. Fancy Christmas Cupcakes for Kids & Families
December 13, 2009 (3-5pm) — Make Fancy Christmas Cupcakes while you Make Wonderful Family Memories . . . . Students will decorate amazing cupcakes using fun and creative ideas. The cupcakes will create "scenes" of gingerbread boys, snowmen, and Christmas trees. The focus of this class will be on frosting and decorating techniques. This class is more advanced. Finding Water: Continuing Your Creativity
January 19 - February 23, 2010 (Tuesdays, 1-3PM) — How do we keep creativity flowing in our lives? We will examine common blocks to creativity and learn ways to stay focused on artistic goals as well as make decisions on new projects. We will also learn ways to cope with outside distractions and explore the possibilities for finding inspiration in new and unusual places. This workshop is designed to benefit those who would like to discover and utilize their hidden creative talents as well as those who are already working in an art medium or writing genre or musical field. Winter Landscape Photography
February 12-14, 2010 (Friday 6-8 pm, Sat & Sun 10 am-4 pm) — This course will help beginning and intermediate photographers take the next step upward in their artistic development through in-depth study of the craft and art of landscape photography. The class will enjoy two sunrise and one sunset shoot at prime locations near Telluride. Slide shows by the instructor will reveal his favorite Colorado landscape photography locations and explain the techniques behind his best images. Students will learn how to deal with cameras in the cold and how to correctly expose snow scenes for realistically beautiful results. The seminar will touch on many essential elements of good landscape photography, such as scouting, lighting, composition, and atmospheric optics. Bruce will share his own unique style, which involves working from photographs to render stunning, luminous images of the surrounding area. Bruce teaches the basics for beginners in this class, but he encourages more advanced students to attend, promising them the appropriate attention. Onggi: Ancient Korean Pottery Techniques
February 26 & 27, 2010 (10 am-2 pm) — Join Adam in a 2-day workshop and witness demonstrations of traditional coil and paddle techniques used for making massive Onggi jars and Adam's own geometrically carved forms. Making A Strong Photograph
September 9-11, 2010 (10 am-4 pm) — Just in time for the splendor of fall colors, Dave Edwards, famous for his Kazakh Eagle Hunter series for National Geographic Magazine, will lead a 3-day photographic workshop. Dynamic compositions, light, subject content, and the artistic elements of an image will be his main topics. There will be an emphasis on changing photographic habits, seeing with new eyes and experimentation. The Figure in Pastels
September 10-12, 2010 (9-4) — Students are taught a traditional pastel painting technique, working with live models. Drawing, composition, anatomy, proportion, value, color and pastel application will be explored. Emphasis will be on developing form using light and shadow. For those wanting to speed up and become less tight in their work, this is an excellent class to take. Students do not need prior pastel experience.
