St. Simons Island Workshop in Georgia
March 28 - April 1, 2010 — As one of the fabulous Golden Isles, this island lies off the Georgia Coast, halfway between Savannah and Jacksonville, Florida. Subjects range from marsh scenes and wide sandy beaches, to moss-draped stands of century-old oaks and tabby ruins steeped in history. Brunswick, on the mainland, offers Victorian architecture, shrimp boats docks and more. Our headquarter host is Epworth-by-the-Sea, a Methodist conference center built on the grounds of the old Hamilton Plantation. The center offers deluxe rooms with balconies overlooking the Frederica River, plus cafeteria style meals. Once you step out of your door, a wealth of subject matter awaits to be painted right on the grounds as well as at nearby locations on this island.  Website: http://www.tonyvanhasselt.com

Color Confidence
April 22-26, 2010 (9:00 - 4:00) — Learn to mix the exact color you want every time! Color theory will be covered, but most of the class will be spent mixing color and making small studies. In this class color theory will come alive as color expression. Creativity is sometimes chaotic, but color mixing doesn't have to be, it can be a tool to express your creativity and this class will make it just that. This is a class for all painting media. Instructor demonstrations, along with individual instruction and lots of color mixing projects will be used.  Website: http://www.sarahcarystudio.com/index.htm

The Figure in Pastels
August 29-31, 2010 (9-4) — Students are taught a traditional pastel painting technique, working with live models. Drawing, composition, anatomy, proportion, value, color and pastel application will be explored. Emphasis will be on developing form using light and shadow. For those wanting to speed up and become less tight in their work, this is an excellent class to take. Students do not need prior pastel experience. Some drawing would be helpful, but not imperative.  Website: http://www.artworkshops.com/
