Painting the Landscape in Tuscany
May 25 - June 1, 2010 (sessions daily) — Cortona is known to be one of the most delightful places to paint plein air. Cortona is only fifty miles from Florence between Arezzo and Perugia. Cortona has a picturesque aspect, quite a bit longer than wide, turned toward the midday sun. The city is situated high above the valley and numerous vantage points in town offer stunning views of both the valley and Montepulciano to the west and the mountains to the east, dominated by Mt. San Egidio.  Website: http://toscanaamericana.com/dagostinopainting.html

August 28 - September 4, 2010 (sessions daily) — During this six day course we will explore the history of the elegant Italian hand and work a series of selective exercises leading to the understanding of the nuances of certain writing masters. We will use the Italic and its variations over the six days making use of black, white and colour exercises as well as introducing a touch of gold! With Italy famous for its magnificent manuscripts among other things, we too shall create a small codex, either a single section binding or a concertina booklet and a protective pouch using contemporary calligraphy so you have an Italic variation exemplar to take with you at the end of your creative Tuscan journey.  Website: http://toscanaamericana.com/gemmabcalligraphytuscan.html
