Study important prints spanning the 15th to the 21st centuries, with emphasis on their context and the evolution of various printmaking mediums. Examine Dürer, Rembrandt, Piranesi, the Impressionists, German Expressionism, Pop Art, Dieter Roth, Richard Artschwager and more. Includes visits to the print study rooms of both PAFA and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

"Landscape Painting: Methods, Approaches and Strategies"

This workshop offers a concise exploration of landscape painting from a variety of approaches: alla prima and plein air vs. indirect painting; academic vs. conceptual. Experience a variety of materials, equipment, design ideas, techniques andstyles. Includes a visit the PAFA museum to view historic examples and an outdoor painting session (weather permitting).

"Plein Air on the Delaware"
July 9-13, 2018
 

Paint the spectacular views of the Delaware River from the Independence Seaport Museum at Penn’s Landing. Museum access offers the opportunity to tour the collection, see boat builders in action, and access the facilities. Includes a session on the river in the museum’s excursion boat, à la Claude Monet! Parking and use of the facilities will be available (Tuition includes museum admission).

"Walking Photography Tour"
July 15, 2018
 

Explore the streets of Philadelphia through the photographer’s lens! Become familiar with the functions of the camera, and then take your skills outdoors on a group photographing excursion, in the vicinity of PAFA. Learn techniques for taking street, documentary, architectural and candid photographs. Afterward, head back to the classroom to share work and discuss useful shooting tips. (Rain date July 22)

"Perspective Drawing: The City"
