"Teen Workshops: Creative Expression through DSLR Photography"
February 24, 2018

In this one-day workshop, you will be introduced to the technical workings of a DSLR camera, gain a more critical eye for composition, and develop new ways to explore art concepts. Instruction will begin with how to manipulate camera settings to achieve beautifully lit, colorful images as well as how to create desired effects, such as short depth-of-field and freezing motion. Technical exercises and creative challenges will provide hands on opportunities to practice new skills and each student will create a collection of final images. DSLR cameras will be provided by Kasey.

"Teen Workshops - Drawing to Painting: Thinking Outside the Box"
March 17, 2018

Technical and observational skills lay the foundation of every artistic practice. This one-day workshop with noted painter Kyle Martin will focus on working with line and contour, shape and form, light and shadow, and space and depth through a series of drawing and painting exercises. Develop your ability to see while working on a sight-size drawing, capture light, shadow, and form through a heightened drawing, and practice your new skills in a quick plein air painting. Additionally, Kyle will share his path to establishing a full-time studio practice and provide insight into what’s next for teen participants.
