Students will hear a brief history of mosaics and see examples of ancient and contemporary mosaics. The instructor will provide guidance on planning an 8 x 8 inch mosaic and instruction on the use of mosaic tools. The students will practice using tools to cut several different kinds of materials and practice placement of the mosaic pieces. All materials will be provided to create a mosaic piece using a variety of materials. The instructor will demonstrate grouting, so the students may do their own grouting at home.
