This workshop is an exploration of watercolor, mixed media/collage, painting with natural pigments, mark making with India ink and other simple materials to develop your unique voice - all while taking a deep dive into the art, culture, and real ancestral traditions of Oaxaca, plus exploring a historic barrio in Puebla. First, a week-long deep dive into the art and culture of magical Oaxaca, with its soulful art scene, indigenous culture, and rich culinary and artisanal traditions. She has taught at the college and high school levels, as well as in museum settings, and for the past seven years has led abstract painting workshops in Maine and Mexico, focusing on oil and cold wax techniques. Hebebrand creates an inspiring environment where students build skills and discover their unique artistic voice. She is deeply committed to guiding others on their creative paths. Hebebrand holds a BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University. She is represented by Carver Hill Gallery and Cynthia Winings Gallery, both located in Maine.

Offering demonstrations of techniques and the characteristics of different types of colored pencils, papers, and other related materials, Kristy covers a wide range of possibilities.
