"Mixed Media & Photography at Mission San Juan Capistrano"

Learn how to integrate your own photography with the mixed media process. With our cameras we will visit the historical landmark of the Mission San Juan Capistrano capturing dramatic imagery. We will then spend the remaining time working on our mixed media pieces. During the weekend you will be working on two 12 x 12 in. wood panels. I will show you step-by-step how to combine collage, your own photography, acrylic painting, layering, texturizing, adhering found objects and more. Some acrylic painting or mixed media experience is helpful, but not required. Join me in this unique & creative workshop. With mixed media you have the freedom to explore your creativity. You’ll be surprised at what you can create.

"2 Day Head Painting with Warren Chang"
August 25-26, 2018
 

This 2 Day Head Painting workshop will emphasize working in a limited palette. Students will work on two head paintings over the course of the 2 days. Instructor demonstrations on both days. Proportions, construction of the human head, along with a lecture on the understanding of light and shadow and the corresponding value and edge relationships will be discussed. Students will learn to pre-mix oil colors and achieve convincing skin tones using a limited palette of 4 colors. About the instructor: Warren is an acclaimed realist artist and has been an instructor of painting for over 20 years, at Pratt Institute in NYC and currently at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

"'Carmel By The Sea' En Plein Air"
August 29 - September 1, 2018
 

Paint along the Monterey and Carmel Coastline en plain air with Plein Air Painters of America member, Randall Sexton. Open to all levels, this 3 (or 4) day workshop is especially geared to encourage the experienced artist to reach greater heights in their work. Sexton will review the basics of solid picture making - while sharing his own methods for simplifying the complex. Three days (weather permitting) will be spent on location en plain air, while an (optional) fourth studio day will focus on simplifying the figure directly (with a model). Daily demonstrations will be followed up with individual assistance at the easel.

"San Francisco: On-The-Go Ink & Wash Watercolor Workshop"
