"How to paint a portrait from a photo reference 3-day workshop"
September 21-23, 2018

In this exciting workshop, you’ll learn how to paint a portrait in oil using age-old and modern techniques from a reference photo. You can expect hands-on instruction and lots of tips along the way. On the first day we'll briefly discuss Photoshop and printing out a color reference. We’ll then apply the drawing onto the toned canvas and ink-in the lines. After a review of color and mixing skin tones we’ll block-in the first thin layer of color then paint the portrait with subsequent thicker layers. Students can expect to walk away from this class with a basic knowledge needed to paint a portrait from a photo to achieve likeness, skin-tones, and detail.
