"Composition, Foundations and Color Harmony"
Mondays, January 4-25, 2021

We will work on experimenting with new ways of looking at compositions, (For most of us this is a problem area that we can greatly improve on.) We will also address foundation work…because a strong foundation is the start of a better painting! And finally, we will focus on color mixing to improve your color and value and improve your paintings!

"The Winter Landscape"
Tuesdays, January 5-26, 2021

In this class I will lead you through the process of laying out a painting, massing in your large values, and finishing your scenes. We will not only study basic landscape painting - we will also address how to include animals in the landscape, as well as how to introduce water elements into your paintings. This is an eight-week course, offered in two four-week sessions. The classroom at On-Track Studios has a UV air cleaner, high ceilings, natural light and openable windows/doors. We keep all high-touch surfaces sanitized, and masks are required in class. This is a safe place to paint; it’s wonderful to be with other artists! Choose between Morning or Afternoon class.

"Painting The Poetic Landscape"
January 21-23, 2022

This workshop is a broad overview of my approach to painting and covers value, color temperature, chroma, composition, editing, and mark making (how to make every stroke of pigment count). All my workshops begin each day with a demonstration followed by plenty of individual help at the easel. Most students who attend my workshops have some painting experience, but all levels are welcome, and I'm happy to give individual attention to beginners.
