Kids can choose to work on the potter’s wheel or hand build with clay using coils, slabs or molds. Working on the potter’s wheel is more of an experience at first. Learning the skills to use the wheel can be hard but exciting. We encourage students to enjoy the experience, more than focus on a finished project. When hand building with clay a student can come in with a project idea like a mug, bowl, or even sculpture and finish their project in the hour. Acrylic pouring is a great way to create interesting texture, patterns, and marbleized effects. I will take you through the process of mixing acrylic paints to pour and the appropriate consistency for different types of pour painting. In this class we will use frisket paper to keep our whale intact as we pour the sky, clouds and ocean. We will use swipe technique as well as some traditional painting techniques for fine details of our whale. We will also splatter for splashing ocean as well. Acrylic pouring is a great way to create interesting texture, patterns, and marbleized effects. I will take you through the process of mixing acrylic paints to pour and the appropriate consistency for different types of pour painting. Each class a new technique is taught resulting in unique, exciting paintings. Each step you will be given options for how to proceed to make the painting your own and how you prefer. The instructor will provide guidance on planning an 8 x 8 inch mosaic and instruction on the use of mosaic tools. Night at the Gallery returns for a third year. Multiple activities are planned to keep kids engaged in a fun Winter Wonderland Event! Our evening will begin with pizza for dinner! Activities: 1.
