Paper marbling is an easy and fun way of creating beautiful artwork. Pigments are floated on a viscous water-based solution and then transferred to prepared paper. The result is a one of a kind creation of color, swirls and unique organic patterns. Marbled paper is an art on its own, but it can also be used as book covers, note cards, writing paper, wrapping paper, or in numerous other ways. In this session, participants will learn about how marbling works including a discussion on prep work (which will have already been done), supplies (provided) and the tools used. Students will ultimately choose the pigments and design and create seven of their own pieces of paper!

Mixed media art and collage offer a myriad of possibilities to combine papers, photographs, and 3D elements to make a statement, convey something personal, or create something textural, colorful, and beautiful. Washi Tape is a not-very-sticky masking tape made from rice paper. It comes in rolls of solid colors, as well as patterns, and provides adherence to a variety of surfaces. This course is taught by local artist Joan Moreau McKeever, who is here to teach you how to create your very own sea turtle painting using washi tape!
