"Make a Beautiful Mini Mosaic Pendant (Ages 13 yrs to adult)"

Make a mini mosaic pendant using beads, glass, charms, and various other materials. All the mosaic bits go into a bezel pendant with a fast-drying epoxy that serves as the glue and grout. Participants can wear their beautiful pendant as soon as it's made!

"UV Resin Jewelry with Greg Cwalina (Ages 13 yrs to adult)"

In this class you will learn the basic techniques for creating jewelry from UV resin. The class will include a discussion of materials such as resin, molds, tools, adding decorations and colors, curing with a UV lamp and adding hardware. Students will create their own pendant and time permitting, stud or dangle earrings. The jewelry will be completed during class so students will take them home the same day. All materials will be provided including sand and shells. This class has a limited enrollment, so sign up early!

"Silver Pendant with Sea Glass Dangle"

In this class, students will design and create a textured fine silver patterned pendant accented with a sea glass dangle. This workshop places a strong emphasis on individual design, allowing each participant to create a truly unique piece. All materials are provided, including 12.5 grams of Art Clay fine silver, drilled sea glass, a jump ring, and access to a wide range of textures, shape cutters, and tools to support individual design choices. No experience is necessary. Materials Fee: $60 payable directly to the instructor at the time of class.

You will make 3 pendants and 2 earrings or 2 pendants, 1 earring, 1 bracelet, choosing from a wide range of glasses. The piece will be fired after the workshop and available for pick up 2-3 weeks later. "Canvas to Jewelry - Making Jewelry from Paint Skins (Ages 13 yrs to adult)"
April 11, 2026
 

Learn how to make colorful earrings, bracelets and/or pendants using "skins" of abstract paint. In this class we will cut or punch out shapes from dried "skins" of acrylic paint. We will glue them into trays of varying shapes and sizes. Then we will glue a glass or acrylic cabochon over the skin to finish off each piece. You will have many different colors and patterns of "skins" to choose from as well as a few shapes of earrings. You will make at least 2 pieces of jewelry. All jewelry is stainless steel. Make a gift for a friend, or treat yourself and keep it! All levels welcome, no experience necessary. - $12 Supply Fee paid in cash to instructor.

"Silver Painted Leaf Pendant"

This nature-inspired workshop guides students through creating a delicate fine silver pendant using real leaves. Art Clay Silver paste is applied to natural leaf surfaces, capturing organic textures that are transformed into solid silver during firing. "Jewelry 101 / Let's Get Started"

Ever wanted to try your hand at the craft of jewelry making? Make a ring? Fabricate a pendant? Set a stone? We can do all that and much more at the Wayne Art Center’s fully equipped jewelry studio. You will be introduced to a different technique weekly that will give you enough skills to produce a finished piece of work. Toolboxes supplied. Students will purchase sterling silver.

"Jewelers Bench: Introduction to Metal Etching"
Wednesdays, April 22 - June 3, 2026
 

We are going to use a printed circuit board technique to transfer drawn or copied design images on to metal using a copier, black laser printer and a laptop. Images are then printed onto the special Press”n”Peel blue plastic sheet. Designs are cut out with scissors, placed on the metal, and then pressed with a hot clothes iron. The design is etched with ferric chloride. Perfect for surface textures and enameling. Time permitting, we will do old school asphaltum etching resist.

"Jewelry - Lost Wax Casting and Beyond"
Wednesdays, April 22 - June 10, 2026
 

Casting molten metal is one of the oldest metal techniques dating back thousands of years. Students will learn how to work both hard and soft wax. These wax objects will be cast in sterling silver incorporating the lost wax casting technique. This class will cover calculating wax weights, spruing of waxes, safety issues and finishing. Students do not need prior metal experience but those that have taken a jewelry class will be able to use those skills in the finishing part of this technique. Cuttlefish casting will be offered. Be prepared for a fun and interesting time learning this essential and ancient metal art! Mats included.

"Enamel Jewelry: Glass on Metal"
Thursdays, April 23 - June 4, 2026
 

In this demonstration focused, multi-week class, students will learn the foundations of enameling on metal to create lightweight, wearable jewelry. Utilizing traditional metal fabrication and cold connections, students will learn silver soldering, earwire fitting, filing, sanding, and sawing, and light forming. They will then take their prepared metal and apply multiple layers of vitreous glass enamel, which will add color and even potential imagery to their new wearable pieces. Finally, students will learn about finishing and care to make their pieces sustain everyday wear and comfort. Techniques demonstrated: Silver soldering, riveting, wire manipulation, metal tumbling, filing, sanding, sawing & piercing, finishing, enamel layering, wet-packing, surface decoration including: decal application, overglazing, etching, graphite, sugar firing.

"Silver Stacked Rings"

In this workshop, students will create a custom stacked ring using 950 silver, with instruction focused on techniques specific to ring construction. The class covers forming, refining, and sizing rings, which differs from pendant work. Students will also learn the key differences between 950 silver and 999 fine silver, including how each material behaves during forming and firing. This workshop is beginner-friendly and suitable for students interested in wearable silver jewelry. Materials Fee: $60 payable directly to the instructor at the time of class.
