"Pottery for Adults and Teens"

Bring your creativity and ideas into the studio! In this class we will be creating functional and non-functional pieces with an added flair. Projects will be wheel thrown to start, then altered, trimmed, and finished with handbuilding. Turn your plates into birdbaths, your mugs into face mugs, and your candlestick holders into goblets. The possibilities are endless. This class is for beginner to advanced level skills. "Teen Sculpture: Soapstone Carving (Ages: 12+)"

The world of stone carving is at your fingertips! Have fun learning to carve stone using traditional hand and power tools. Students choose a raw piece of soapstone or alabaster on their first day of class. Following step-by-step instructions about basic stone carving techniques, students turn a block of stone into a 3-Dimensional sculpture piece, using hammers, chisels and other tools. Camaraderie working with others help students watch and adapt new ideas and techniques; enhancing their knowledge, experience, and understanding of sculpting with stone. All tools and materials are included. Safety glasses will be provided. This class is a 9 week, after-school 1.5 hour class.

"Teen Studio: Photography (Ages: 11+)"

Starting with the fundamentals of photography, students learn about camera settings and composition from award-winning photographer Laura Ducceschi. Demonstrations and slideshows illustrate the concepts, then students put theory into practice creating photographs outside. They receive regular feedback during class critiques. Bring your own single lens reflex (DSLR) or mirrorless camera for this class. A compact camera is acceptable but will not have all the functionality. Phone cameras are not acceptable for this course. **Every student needs to bring a fully charged camera battery and memory card to each class to shoot freely.

Whether your child has already begun to show an interest in art or you are looking to introduce them to new media in a structured yet nurturing environment, this class allows even the youngest students to discover their creative side. Students work with air-dry clay, collage, paint, chalk and more. Our early childhood teachers encourage students to talk about their art, providing a great opportunity to learn new vocabulary, particularly words related to colors, shapes and textures, and emotions. Children learn to follow directions in a social setting with support and encouragement of their caregiver, serving as the perfect precursor to preschool. The classic craft of weaving encourages creative thinking and problem solving. It strengthens fine motor skills and is an early introduction to more advanced fiber arts skills like sewing, knitting and crocheting. Move your paint as the music tells you... on a canvas or in your sketchbook. I create a one-hour playlist of the different subjects each week. You may paint one painting or 10 or as much as you want. No rules. You may interpret the music as figurative or abstract, anything goes! The camera of your device will be pointed to the working area, so we can also see the progress, and be inspired. After the session, we look at each other's artwork and talk about the process.
