"Introduction to Foundry and Mold Making"
Thursdays, January 22 - April 16, 2026
 

Foundry metal casting is the process of creating metal objects by pouring molten metal into a mold and letting it cool to solidify. This course will cover all aspects of the foundry process with an emphasis on mold making as an essential element of a sculptor’s toolkit for both bronze casting and creating objects in multiples. Demonstrations and hands-on instruction will be given in wax modeling and casting, ceramic shell techniques, bronze pouring, metal chasing, TIG welding and patination. This class presents integral skills for any sculptor and is an excellent follow-up for students who have taken a clay-modeling class and wish to preserve their work. Beginner-friendly and open to all levels. Note: Tuition includes a $75 lab fee.

"Living with Craft Lecture: A Trio of Craft"

Join architect and furniture maker Mira Nakashima, horticulturalist Przemek Walczak and tile maker Katia McGuirk as they discuss their unique experiences in the world of functional craft. Mira Nakashima, creative director of Nakashima Woodworkers, continues to produce her father’s classic furniture designs while also producing her own unique pieces. Horticulturist and metalworker Przemek Walczak shares how Chanticleer's gardeners craft functional art: benches, gates, trellises and other metalwork elements designed specifically for their garden settings. Executive Director of the TileWorks of Bucks County, Katia McGuirk, who formed a not for profit to steward The Moravian Pottery and Tile Works in Doylestown, PA will share Moravian tiles and talk about the ethos & philosophy behind their making.

"Painting with Water Mixable Oils from Photos"
February 21, 2026
 

Wondering what Water Mixable Oil paints are all about? During this one-day intensive workshop, Beth shares her unique techniques. In the morning Beth will do a demo and show how she uses photography and simple apps on her phone to simplify forms, enhance value, and emphasize composition. In the afternoon students will work from photos (either bring your own on your phone/iPad, or Beth will have prints to share). Beth will have paint for her students to try as well as one of her prepared painting panels, brushes and other supplies for you to use during the workshop. This workshop is for all level of painters.

"Still Life with Water Mixable Oils"

Wondering what Water Mixable Oil paints are all about? During this one-day intensive workshop, Beth shares her unique techniques. Beth uses unconventional tools including squeegees and Q-tips, along with her brushes focusing on composition, values, edges, and drawing rather than color. Beth will do a demo and show how she uses photography and simple apps on her phone to simplify forms enhance value and emphasize composition. She will also discuss how to pick objects that make an exciting still life set up. Beth will have paint for her students to try as well as one of her prepared painting panels, brushes and other supplies for you to use during the workshop.
