Learn how to make monotypes, drypoints, and screenprints as a foundation for incorporating your choice of graphite, colored pencil, acrylic, watercolor, oil paint, and/or collage. Content includes technical advice from an artist-instructor ideally skilled in a variety of media as well as critiques to expand your creative boundaries. This class is perfect for painters/draftspeople seeking to expand their processes, printmakers seeking to employ painterly and mixed media techniques, and anyone with love of color and experimentation. Explore lithography through non-toxic, easy-to-learn paper plate and polyester plate processes in this excellent entry-point printmaking class. Students will work with toner-based drawings to learn the fundamental principles of using grease and water resistance to produce prints. Instruction will cover drawing methods using toner or Sharpie, plate processing, hand-printing, and layering techniques.

Relief block printing is a fascinating method to make multiple originals of your graphic image by carving the forms and patterns into a block of linoleum or soft latex. Wonderful variations of color are achieved as we use ink our blocks in numerous colors and handprint on various types and colors of paper—including transparent overlays. Imagine the possibilities! In addition to the registration cost, students should bring $15 cash to pay the instructor for materials, all of which she will supply for you. This course is designed for all levels of students.
