"Making & Formulating Your Own Glazes"
Tuesdays, September 24 - December 10, 2024

This is an introductory class in formulating, making, and using glazes for your work. Why make/formulate your glazes? Using other people’s recipes for your glazing runs contrary to your best needs as an artist; control of your materials and the look/identity of your work. Other advantages include cost, fit, and durability of the ware and the uniqueness and beauty of your glazes. We will focus on developing glazes free of defects and teach you how to correct those that occur, such as crazing. The goal of this class is to improve your glazing! We will work on glazes together in the early classes. Each student will then, with oversight, develop variations and personal glazes. Please bring an M95 dust mask.
