"Commanding Color Part One"

Whether you’re an advanced beginner or a seasoned painter, this course offers valuable insights and challenges to spark creativity. Explore the essentials of design through demonstrations, lectures, and hands-on projects in watercolor or acrylic (no oils). Discover the power of planning and the fundamentals of light and color, including pigment quality, hue, value, intensity, and temperature. Learn to use white as a color, master the color wheel, and create rich, colorful darks. This workshop will teach you to “see” and “experience” color in new ways, helping you express your unique style across any medium.

"Pufferfish Paradise"
February 15, 2025 | 10am - 1pm
 

Join us for a fun and creative workshop as we paint an adorable pufferfish hovering above a vibrant reef! You'll work on an 11x14 canvas using acrylic paints applied with a variety of techniques. In addition to traditional brushwork, you'll explore using natural sea sponges to create the reef, a pastry bag with heavy-textured acrylic for a raised effect on the pufferfish, and acrylic paint pens for adding final details. All materials are provided, including a pufferfish template to guide your design. No experience necessary—just bring your enthusiasm!

"Commanding Color Part Two"
February 22-23, 2025 | 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
 

Building on the foundations of Commanding Color Part 1, this workshop challenges advanced students and inspires advanced beginners to deepen their creativity. Designed to help you “see,” “experience,” and apply advanced color theory, this course focuses on integrating these principles into your own compositions. You’ll plan paintings meticulously, expand your understanding of advanced concepts, and apply techniques like atmospheric perspective and color dominance. Through demonstrations, lectures, and critiques, you’ll gain the skills to design compelling works using watercolor or acrylic (no oils). Prerequisite: Commanding Color Part 1 or instructor approval. Bring personal resource materials (photos/drawings) with strong side lighting and shadows. Projects include designing paintings, studying masterworks, and achieving unity and intent in compositions.

"The Villages -Art Retreat"
April 17-24, 2025
 

Artist Table is returning to the USA! In April we will meet in Central Florida with a new retreat concept, a luxury hotel, lush surroundings, and an immersive art experience. We will sketch, paint, and develop new skills as we travel around the beautiful community of The Villages, surrounded by lakes, tropical landscapes, and quaint town squares. Painting around the nature and water streams of the Villages. Also offering an Encaustic workshop given by a local artist. A visit to Walt Disney's EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, three meals a day, lodging, and transport are included.
