Students compare the artists’ self portraits with the artists’ press photos, while Ajuan discusses the strategies veteran comic creators use to create a character to represent themselves on the page. We will be drawing from models using toned paper, white chalk and charcoal. Students will learn how to render the effects of light and shadow to create a sense of volume.
