Plein Air: Pastels and Oils in the Maremma July 9-16, 2011 (one week) — This painting retreat allows students, regardless of experience, to create successful paintings inspired by the Tuscan landscape. Classes will focus on composition, depth, the use of color and value. Students will learn how to approach the landscape and distill it to its essential elements. Formal instruction with personal critiques will take place in each of the five morning sessions. Individual and group critiques will be incorporated into each day. Afternoon sessions are informal, teachers will work in the field, offering students the chance to work along side them and observe their techniques.
