Once dry, we’ll pick up our pens, markers, and gouache (or anything else we want) to create interesting playful flowers. We’ll add some splashes of gold, silver, or white! We’ve all seen the beautiful sunsets in the west. So, let’s paint one! This will be wet-on-wet, blending the sky as it moves toward the inlet. We’ll add texture to the grass and use glazing to bring warmth to the foreground. So gather your paints and join in! All artistic levels welcome!

Experiment with drawing over a splash of color! A dynamic layer of greens will be quickly painted & splashed on the paper. Next we’ll draw the frog in permanent ink, and finally, we’ll detail our frog with markers & watercolor. It’s an exciting way to play with color & practice drawing.

Explore ways to improve your use of color and enhance your personal style and expression with Al Gury, noted professor and author of Alla Prima, Color for Painters, and Foundations of Drawing. Great colorists such as Velasquez, Manet, Matisse, and Diebenkorn among others will provide the focus for weekly explorations of how to improve color in your work. Visual histories and examples, materials, problem solving, and color theories will be presented through live Zoom meetings and recorded video demonstrations, with a goal of helping each student find their own color voice. Assignments will be posted on Canvas, PAFA’s online learning platform, and critiqued by the instructor for helpful feedback. Open to all levels of experience and all media: oil, acrylic, watercolor, and pastel.

Let’s have fun with bold watercolors. We’re going to go with the flow! These abstract flowers will be unique to you, the artist. We’ll drop deep colors on the paper and let them run down the page! Once dry, we’ll examine each one and with a permanent marker, create our flowers adding form and details to create real or imaginary flowers. These ongoing classes series of 4 meetings each, are for you, who wish to improve your painting and sketching skills of the Landscape. Painting from your window or from images you took yourself. Will be available to participants of any level! Classes offer individual instruction and assignments. In addition, I will be open to specific requests for technique or any artistic "problem" that you may want to talk about and work out. Finding shapes, colors, and color values. An international group meets online via Zoom every Wednesday (check your time zone). Short and long poses, from 5-10 minutes and 20-30 minutes. Each week I invite a new model to pose.
