Halfmoon Lake is part of the Pinckney State Recreation Area which is more than 11,000 acres with hiking, many spring fed lakes for swimming, over thirty miles of mountain bike trails, hiking trails, and equestrian trails. This particular spot is near the adorable town of Chelsea, home to actor Jeff Daniels, and only about ten miles from Ann Arbor. Maryland Federation of Art's Corporate Connections program launches an opportunity for artists to connect with professional developers, designers, and more at this one-day gala event at the MGM Casino in National Harbor, Maryland. Jurors will select fifty pieces, one per individual artist, to be featured in a promotional catalog and also displayed on MFA's online Curve Gallery from Sept 15 - Oct 31, 2021. The international "FL3TCH3R Exhibit: Social & Politically Engaged Art" at East Tennessee State University's Reece Museum in Johnson City, TN faithfully continues to represent the spirit of social and political movements of the country and world. The 2021 exhibition, which runs October 4 - December 10, will model same with a special award to an artist whose work reflects the "Protection of Voting Rights" movement. More than $1,500 in awards. Juror: Michael Ray Charles, a contemporary American painter and Distinguished Professor of Painting since 2014 at the University of Houston's School of Art. His work explores historic African American stereotypes from the Antebellum South. Operation Military Masterpiece

Vet to Vet Tennessee announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition at the Robert "Bob" Hatley Veterans Service Center in Madisonville, TN. Up to $6,000 in awards. There will be Six Categories. Six Banner Designs, one for each Branch of Service: Army, Marine, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Space Force. Artists may enter all six categories. Lucca Biennale Cartasia 2022

The new Lucca Biennale Cartasia calls are already online for the eleventh edition of the event, scheduled in the Tuscan city of Lucca from July 31st to September 25th, 2022. After an edition in an odd year following the postponement due to Covid-19, the largest paper art, architecture and design event returns to its original biennial even positioning. For the Indoor call all artistic forms are allowed, ranging from sculpture to video-art and to performance art. The Outdoor call is instead dedicated to the creation of paper monumental sculptures to be created during an artistic residency, which culminates in the installation of the work in one of the city's squares. 1000 € will be awarded for the Outdoor exhibition. Call for Artwork for Portraits Project

The Gay Men's Chorus of Washington, DC (GMCW) is seeking artwork to be used as part of the Portraits project to be premiered in June 2024. Compensation to the artist is $2,500 per piece. Portraits will represent through visual art, music, and dance, the spectrum of sexual, gender, racial, ethnic, and cultural identities. Paintings, drawings, and photographs are welcome. The artworks may be a portrait, or a scene depicting an aspect of the human experience, including identity expression and historical references specific to the LGBTQ+ community. Selected artworks will be used as projections as part of a live performance, brought to life aurally by music, and visually by GMCW's 17th Street Dance ensemble. Music will be commissioned by composers inspired by the artworks selected for the project. Artists may submit works from their existing portfolio, or the artist may submit a sample or sketch of a proposed work.
