Valley Junction Arts Festival

Applications are now being accepted for the 2023 Valley Junction Arts Festival, held Sunday, May 21st on 5th Street in Historic Valley Junction, the original downtown of West Des Moines, IA. $500 Best of Show, $250 Best 2-D, $250 Best 3-D. This juried art event includes 50+ artists from Iowa and across the Midwest and has long been one of the premier art festivals in Central Iowa attracting consistent crowds since the 1970's. In addition to art vendors there are art demonstrations, entertainment, and food trucks peppered throughout the festival. Colored Pencil Society of America 31st Annual International Exhibition

The Colored Pencil Society of America seeks entries for a juried art exhibition, July 2-30, 2023 at The Summit Hotel Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio. Awards include a $5,000 for CIPPY Best of Show, and over $20,000 in cash prizes. Juror: Jerry N. Smith. Artwork must be 100% colored pencil on a manufacturer-prepared surface. Must be solely the original concept, design, and execution of the submitting artist, and must have been created in 2020 or later. 87th National Midyear Exhibition

The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio seeks entries for a juried art exhibition, June 25 - August 20, 2023. Solo show + cash prizes. Juror: Gary Lichtenstein. Works must be created after January 1, 2021. All works must hang on the wall by securely attached D-rings or a wire. Works may be paintings, works on paper, or relief. Sculpture: Motley Cruise

ARC Gallery in Chicago, IL seeks entries for a juried sculpture exhibition, May 25 - June 16, 2023. Juror: Bernard Williams. In Anne Ellegood's essay titled: Motley Efforts, Sculpture's Ever-Expanding Field, she speaks of the myriad sculptural practices at work among today's artists. She speaks of the inability to locate clear categories for much of contemporary sculpture... the profusion of cultural and historical references, the range of materials and an eye towards experimentation. This is a call for sculpture in any form. Sculptures can: hang on wall, suspend from ceiling, sit on a pedestal, or stand on floor. Works can be either indoor or outdoor but should be no larger than 36 inches in circumference (W or D). Indoor works are limited to 9'0". All sculptural mediums are welcome and non-traditional mediums are encouraged. $40 for one to three images. $10 for each additional image. Students: $30 per 3 entries, $10 for each additional entry. 52nd Annual St Clair Art Fair

St Clair Art Association announces a call to artists for the 52nd Annual St Clair Art Fair, August 19 & 20, 2023 in Downtown St Clair. The Fair is held in the park along the beautiful St Clair River & in the street. $3,800 in awards. More than 150 visual artists will be featured with their paintings, photographs, sculptures, woodwork, pottery, fiber, jewelry and more. Exhibited artwork must be designed & executed by the accepted artist who must be present during the fair. Commercial molds, patterns or kits, resale of purchased items not allowed. Call for Proposals: McGuire Visiting Artist Residency (2023-2024)

The Blake School in Hopkins, MN seeks proposals for the McGuire Visiting Artist Residency, 2+ weeks between September 2023 and May 2024. $4,000 to $6,500+ will be awarded. This biennial residency program funds visual artists who collaborate with Blake School K-12 students and faculty. Each residency allows the Blake community to learn from an artist's unique talents, experiences, and approaches to creating art, learning, and teaching. All visual art mediums are acceptable (painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, digital, prints, fiber art, collage or installation art). Trail's End Western Art Show

The Liberty Center Association for the Arts in Sedalia, Missouri announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, July 13 - August 31, 2023. $2,000 in cash awards. $1,000 for Best of Show and two $500 Merit awards.
