This fun workshop gives you the chance to play with glass! You will create your own triple dipper platter using glass as your canvas. No painting experience is necessary! This is a fun workshop so bring a friend and create something new! Once you’ve finished your creations, Kathy will take them to her studio, fire them in the kiln and then return the finished plates to the Academy for you to pick up a week later. Students should bring $20 cash to pay the instructor for their materials, which she will provide for you.

For centuries, stained glass has been used to decorate homes, churches and public spaces. Learn everything you need to know to create your own fabulous stained glass art pieces! Suitable for novices and pros, we will cover the basics and beyond. You will learn to cut glass, grind and fit glass, create panels, solder, and lots more! Bring your own pattern or use one of ours. Supplies such as layout bocks, grinder, grinding tools, foil, burnisher, flux, solder, soldering iron, and patina will be provided. Students will need basic glass tools (glass cutter, running pliers, grozers); bring your own or purchase a kit at class for $30. Glass pieces are available at no cost and sheet glass available for $10-20 each.

Students will learn how to cut glass, solder, and complete a window hanging. Patterns will be supplied by instructor. Tool kits available for purchase from instructor on first night. Intermediate and advanced level projects offered for those with experience. Please note: Due to the use of lead, under no circumstance should someone participate in stained glass while pregnant.
