"Sculpture Processes II: Wood and Metal Construction"

This class focuses on welding and other methods of construction. Students will explore sculpture through the processes of cutting, forming, and joining metal and other construction materials. They will learn to use an array of equipment and tools, such as saws, drills, torches, welders, plasma cutter, etc., and will learn a variety of construction techniques, including MIG and TIG welding, forging, tapping, threading, bolting, etc.

"Make, Bake & Take: Polymer Clay Jewelry"

Join our newest instructor, Philadelphia native, Denise Palmer, in this exciting 2-hour polymer clay jewelry making course. "Jewelers Bench: Hydraulic Die Forming"
Wednesdays, January 14 - February 18, 2026
 

This course will cover the varied uses of the press for jewelry and metal working. Areas covered are pillow dies, embossing dies and blanking dies for small studio production work. The pillow die will be used to make a hollow form in class.

"Jewelry- Lost Wax Casting and Beyond"
Wednesdays, January 14 - April 1, 2026
 

Casting molten metal is one of the oldest metal techniques dating back thousands of years. Students will learn how to work both hard and soft wax. These wax objects will be cast in sterling silver incorporating the lost wax casting technique. This class will cover calculating wax weights, spruing of waxes, safety issues and finishing. Students do not need prior metal experience but those that have taken a jewelry class will be able to use those skills in the finishing part of this technique. Cuttlefish casting will be offered. Be prepared for a fun and interesting time learning this essential and ancient metal art! Mats included.

"Enamel Jewelry: Glass on Metal"
Thursdays, January 15-29, 2026
 

In this demonstration focused, multi-week class, students will learn the foundations of enameling on metal to create lightweight, wearable jewelry. Utilizing traditional metal fabrication and cold connections, students will learn silver soldering, earwire fitting, filing, sanding, and sawing, and light forming. They will then take their prepared metal and apply multiple layers of vitreous glass enamel, which will add color and even potential imagery to their new wearable pieces. Finally, students will learn about finishing and care to make their pieces sustain everyday wear and comfort.

"Earrings 101: Assembly and Attachments"

Join instructor Joan Moreau McKeever for an engaging introductory jewelry-making class focused on creating beautiful dangling earrings. Participants will learn essential techniques including bead selection and earring assembly. With hands-on guidance, students will design and craft their own unique pairs of earrings to take home. No prior experience is required—just creativity and a love for handmade artistry. In addition to the workshop fee, students should bring $40 in cash to pay the instructor for materials and use of tools, all of which will be provided. This materials fee covers supplies for each student to complete two sets of earrings. Those who finish early and wish to create additional pairs may do so for $10 per extra set.

"Introduction to Foundry and Mold Making"

Foundry metal casting is the process of creating metal objects by pouring molten metal into a mold and letting it cool to solidify. This course will cover all aspects of the foundry process with an emphasis on mold making as an essential element of a sculptor’s toolkit for both bronze casting and creating objects in multiples. Demonstrations and hands-on instruction will be given in wax modeling and casting, ceramic shell techniques, bronze pouring, metal chasing, TIG welding and patination. This class presents integral skills for any sculptor and is an excellent follow-up for students who have taken a clay-modeling class and wish to preserve their work. Beginner-friendly and open to all levels. Note: Tuition includes a $75 lab fee.

Students will bring in broken or unworn jewelry pieces (or choose from materials provided by the instructor) and learn how to deconstruct and combine them with new materials to craft stunning, one-of-a-kind designs.
