"Desert Botanicals"

For the student who enjoys instant gratification, you will walk away with up to four 5 x 7 paintings and two 8 x 10 paintings. They make wonderful gifts and these little gems are easy to create as no two flowers grow exactly alike. The morning will be spent studying different types of leaves and petals and drawing impressions of favorite plants and flowers. The afternoon will be spent painting, after an easy-to-follow demonstration in color mixing and control. Lastly, students will add wet-into-wet matching borders and some fine details which will add sophistication to their work. Students will be working from life and photos.

"Painting the Thistle"

This beautiful Thistle flower uses a few unique and routine watercolor techniques using Dr. Ph. Martin's Liquid Watercolors. Participants will learn how to apply paint with a basting brush and a caramel apple stick and create a wonderful background using negative space painting. When we finish this painting, we usually complete another smaller painting using some of the same skills. This way, you really learn how to paint with the liquid watercolors.

"Small Floral Collage - Small Format 10x10"

A great prerequisite to this class is the Gel Plate Monoprinting workshop, so that you can bring your own papers to class; however, I will provide a sampling of papers for sharing for those who do not make their own papers. No magazines, scrapbook paper, or shiny paper please. "Watercolor Unleashed! White Flower in Transparent Watercolor"

Learn to use light, airy washes in multiple transparent colors to paint a white flower in all the colors of the rainbow, yet appear as a “white” flower, with the sun shining through its translucent petals. Students will use rich, clean, darker values to set off those beautiful white blooms. A photo will be provided, but students are welcome and encouraged to paint from their own reference material. There will be demos, instruction at all levels, one-on-one critique and lots of painting time. Class time will be structured, yet open enough to accommodate the artistic spirit within us all. "East Meets West: Chinese and Watercolor Painting"
