"Advancing Your Acrylics"

"From Drawing to Painting"

Drawing is integral to all types of painting, but many beginning painters lack the fundamental drawing skills, or the understanding of how best to use them, to serve their painting goals. This combination drawing and painting (all media) class will focus on how to use drawing to create a roadmap to develop your finished work. Observational, measuring, and compositional rendering tactics will be addressed with attention to using positive and negative space and breaking your composition down to basic components. Students then will be guided toward adapting their drawings to paintings in their choice of oil or water-based media. Historical examples will show how painters past and present have used drawing in the creation of their work.

"Figure Painting: Developing Form and Finish"

Paint from a life model in poses of varying lengths to develop and refine your figure painting compositions. "Acrylics or Oil: Making Your Mark with Palette Knife and Impasto Texture"

This is your opportunity to learn how to use various shape palette knives and a paint-loaded brush to obtain texture and glassy smoothness in your paintings. Be prepared to paint along with Alex as she demonstrates palette knife and sgraffito techniques for various subjects: sky, water, trees, flowers and marsh. "All about Art and Where to StART"

Regardless of skill level, there’s something for everyone to learn. Dianne Hebbert is a Nicaraguan-American artist based in New York. She works primarily in painting, printmaking and installation art. As a Miami native she attended New World School of the Arts before she earned her BFA in Painting and Drawing from Purchase College and her MFA in Printmaking from Brooklyn College.

"Finding Delight in Color"

This workshop reveals secrets even the old masters did not know! Participants discover the source of all color, elevating their powers of observation to permit identification of hues hiding in plain sight. With this heightened skill, students are better able to replicate colors seen without the frustration of endless experimentation, memorizing formulas, recipes, and complicated color systems or “happy accidents.” Special focus is placed on assisting the artist to determine the most suitable pigments for producing paintings of quality and unfailing harmony. This workshop was designed for beginner students, intermediate students and advanced students.
