"The Art of Photoshop"
Tuesdays, September 30 - November 18, 2025

Adobe Photoshop can bring out the best in your photographs. Challenging to use and learn, Laura breaks down the complex into comprehensible parts so you can use the basic, most helpful tools and techniques. Demos show step by step procedures and there are opportunities for practice. Photoshop is designed to make improvements to your images while protecting your original file. Using layers allows you to move, edit, and work with content on one layer without affecting the rest of the image. You will learn how to use Photoshop’s tools to add and remove objects, to adjust exposure, color and contrast, and to draw the viewer’s eye to your subject.

Discussions will also include composition, point of view and perspective to get the best possible result in camera. The second class will meet at Wayne Art Center to share and discuss images, both successes and areas to improve. Bring your own DSLR or mirrorless camera. Compact cameras are acceptable. "Lecture: The Alfred Stieglitz Group"
October 16, 2025

Photographer and gallerist Alfred Stieglitz was the first American to exhibit the work of European modernist artists such as Auguste Rodin, Paul Cezanne, Henri Matisse, and Pablo Picasso. But it was his support of artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, John Marin, Marsden Hartley, and Charles Demuth that transformed the landscape of art in the United States. This talk will look at the origins of Stieglitz’s galleries and closely consider the work of these artists and others whom he championed. William Perthes is an educator, author, and curator. He is the Bernard C. Watson Director of Adult Education at the Barnes Foundation. Bill has a background in philosophy and art history.
