In honor of Wayne Art Center's 17th Annual Plein Air Festival, children are invited to join us for their very own outdoor painting event! In this introduction to painting "en plein air," or "in the open air," children will use a pizza box easel to capture the beauty of Wayne Art Center's gardens and create a unique painting ready to be framed. A pizza lunch will be served after the workshop for the hungry young artists. Registration is required for this workshop. Price includes pizza after painting al fresco. Please bring a water bottle.

Join us for an afternoon of clay together with your child to create a happy little Mr. Toad or Frog sitting on his lily pad. Learn the basics of working with kiln-fired clay and colorful glazes while you make one project together with your child. If you each want to create your own, please register yourself and each child separately. Ages 6 and up with an adult. All works created will be fired and ready for pick up approximately two weeks from the date of the workshop.

Saturday 10am-11am. Celebrate your dad, parent, or guardian by working together on two 12×12 paintings, led by instructor Jyneal Radke. Each registration includes one adult and one child, two canvases, brushes, paint, aprons, and instructor. This session is open to anyone who identifies as a father/parent/guardian or, regardless of gender, identifies with ‘Father’s’ Day or just wants to celebrate the weekend with family. Register more than one child for an additional $5!

“Painting Music” is an intuitive painting and drawing, open session for everyone. No painting or drawing skills are needed. Move your paint as the music tells you... on a canvas or in your sketchbook. I create a one-hour playlist of the different subjects each week. You may paint one painting or 10 or as much as you want. No rules. You may interpret the music as figurative or abstract, anything goes! The camera of your device will be pointed to the working area, so we can also see the progress, and be inspired. After the session, we look at each other's artwork and talk about the process.
