"High School Intensive: Sculpture"

Explore clay modeling and expand your portfolio with three-dimensional work. Work from a life model to learn methods of terra cotta clay sculpture, focusing on anatomy, proportion, composition, and personal expression. Sculptures will be kiln-fired after the course ends. Note: This class will utilize nude models.

Learn step-by-step cartooning basics so you can create characters, tell a story from life or imagination, or build a portfolio. "High School Intensive: Book Illustration"
July 16-20, 2018
 

Learn the fundamentals of picture book illustration, including character and storyboard development, narrative and sequential drawing, and book design/ layout. Draw inspiration from book illustration over the centuries, from illuminated manuscripts to contemporary examples. Complete preparatory studies and finished illustrations based on published or personal text in graphite, colored pencil, and various water-media. Open to students entering 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grades in Fall 2018. All levels welcome.

Figure drawing is one of the most time-honored methods of art training and a great way to rapidly produce valuable work for a portfolio. Work in charcoal and graphite directly from the life model in short and long poses, exploring gesture, proportion and anatomy. "High School Intensive: Photography"

Discover the creative possibilities of digital photography. Learn to use the camera as an expressive tool as you develop an understanding of photography’s technical and visual aspects. Instruction covers DSLR camera functions, compositional strategies, image editing in Photoshop, and creating digital prints. A limited number of cameras are available for checkout during the course from the PAFA library if needed, on a first-come-first-served basis. In order to guarantee equipment availability, students requiring a rental camera must reserve one through the Continuing Education Office when registering.
