In the first session, students will learn the basics of coiling a pine needle basket, including how to start a basket around a cabochon center, how to weave so your stitches line up on both sides of the basket, and how to change thread. Students will continue the basket in the second session and learn how to shape the sides, how to do a wrap stitch, and how to finish the basket. Students should bring $30 cash to pay for materials. Come and learn about the stages of the papermaking process as we discuss variations of proper studio set up, preparing pulp, mixing additives and natural dyes, sheet forming, pressing and drying. We will also cover a selection of creative techniques, which you will have time to explore. Both beginners and seasoned artists will enjoy this low-pressure workshop as Debi encourages students to try new techniques that might be outside of your comfort zone but will result in a one-of-a-kind masterpiece!
