"Life Drawing and Anatomy"
Sundays, May 18 - June 29, 2025
 

Improve your skills and understanding of drawing the human figure and portrait! This fascinating and informative class will address the materials for drawing; the structure of the human body; how to understand the shapes, volumes, and anatomy of the figure; descriptions of the bone and muscular structures; and traditional figure drawing materials and techniques. Study will include the history of drawing people, master techniques, and styles and expression in drawing the figure. Instruction will address techniques for gesture drawing, achieving realistic proportions, defining form through line and shading, drawing the portrait, and tackling hands and feet. Classes will include Q&A, problem solving, drawing approaches to anatomy, and video demonstrations. Students will be assigned weekly projects which the instructor will critique.

"Live Online: Paint Along with Vlad"

"The Portrait in Charcoal"

Charcoal is one of the most common yet versatile drawing mediums, used to create both delicate and dramatic effects – perfect for portraiture. Work from photo sources, family/friends, or yourself as self-portrait subject to learn fine art principles and methodology to gain a comprehensive understanding of the head structure, proportions, and features toward achieving both a likeness and aesthetic effect. Explore additive and subtractive techniques for different types of charcoal implements to promote its malleability and capacity for rich value and contrast. All levels welcome.

"Story Painting"

Storytelling versus Story Painting? Or maybe not versus? Let’s tell your story in a painting. In this class, we will learn how to tell your story, convey atmosphere, and feel, and understand colors, lines, focal-point, framing, and depth. You can add (or deduct) from the painting that will tell your story! Let us hear your tale! an ongoing class and instructions. From the prehistoric images in the caves to Edward Hopper... from the bible in pictures to the most modern painters of our times... We will set our subjects in 4 meetings. If you miss a class there will be a recording available.

"Online Figure Drawing via Zoom"
Every Wednesday
 

An international group meets online via Zoom every Wednesday (check your time zone). Short and long poses, from 5-10 minutes and 20-30 minutes. Each week I invite a new model to pose. There is always some music in the background that I'm sharing too. 2 hours session. No instruction. At the end of the session, we show each other the work. Friendly atmosphere, everyone is welcome!
