The practice of Kintsugi - repairing broken vessels by sealing the cracks, then painting them gold - is a remarkable art. The Japanese believe the golden cracks make the pieces even more precious and valuable. It's beautiful to think of this practice as a metaphor for your life, to see the broken, difficult, or painful parts of you as radiating light, gold and beauty. Kintsugi teaches you that your broken places make you stronger and better than ever before. When you think you are broken, you can pick up the pieces, put them back together, and learn to embrace the cracks. No experience is needed. Each attendee will leave with a beautiful Kintsugi bowl.

We will discuss how, by looking inwardly, we can create personal narratives. Geometry plays a significant role in art and design, often carrying symbolic interpretations beyond its visual form. Monochrome painting is art composed in a single color. It utilizes various shades or tints, so the images become incredibly evocative and most importantly what you lose in not using color you’ll gain in quality of composition and contrast. Color is no longer a distraction. The focus is on the overall composition. Also mark-making is improved by enabling the discovery of different forms and shapes with subtle tones. Painting with a single color can improve your art because it makes you concentrate on elements such as line, value, lighting and form.
