"Design & the Power of Imagination"
ongoing

As an instructor, it is my sincere desire to help guide aspiring painters to find better ways to trust, develop, and listen to their artistic voice. This is not done by providing answers so much as in helping artists to ask the right questions. When we begin to grasp this and ask ourselves these fundamental questions, we are well on our way to making significant strides. The curriculum presents a comprehensive and sequential education of watercolor techniques while inspiring the development of your own unique style. The program has rolling admission; you can join anytime and start from the beginning of the curriculum. Each month you will progress through a new 4-8 hour video series while honing your style & technique.

This workshop will focus on using value studies to identify the large shapes in a scene. Then we will move on to color. Demonstration paintings will reinforce the day’s lessons. In order to loosen up, it is imperative to have a clear vision of what you want to accomplish with your painting and then execute it quickly.

"Macroscale Contemporary Landscape"
video course

Enjoy the convenience of learning on your own schedule and have lifetime access to recordings, videos, and resources. This demo will show the creation of a large-scale contemporary landscape painting in watercolor from start to finish. Students will explore painterly ways to find the composition. Activating the entire picture plane and working with “push and pull” early in the process will be prioritized. We will use techniques such as glazing, scumbling, splattering, and smearing to deconstruct the image, and Elizabeth will demonstrate a variety of mark-making in this unconventional approach to watercolor. The inclusion of gouache will introduce opacity, and layering and removing paint will be a key part of the evolution of the painting.
