"Artistic Anatomy with Figure Drawing Foundations: Two Part Workshop"
Wednesdays, August 27 & September 3, 2025

Participants will be guided through the anatomical structures that inform dynamic, accurate depictions of the human form. Using a live model, participants will explore multiple facets of artistic anatomy starting with the major masses of the body and how they relate to essential figure drawing concepts such as opposition, tilt, balance, and proportion. Learn the key bony landmarks and muscle structures relevant to figure drawing and render the visible reference points that inform structure and gesture. Artists will have the opportunity to apply their anatomical knowledge through gestural and long pose figure drawing, individualized feedback, and live demonstrations. Ideal for artists of all levels to deepen understanding of the human form and enhance their figure drawings.

"Artistic Anatomy for Portraiture"
September 7, 2025

Learn the underlying bony and muscular structures that shape the human face, and how to use this knowledge to create successful portraits. Rachel offers a rare, anatomy-first approach to portraiture that brings clarity and structure to the complexity of the head and facial features. Participants will: Learn the skeletal and muscular anatomy of the head and face, focusing on the forms that influence surface appearance, explore how anatomical knowledge can add predictability and structure to portrait work, use the Loomis method to understand proportions and spatial relationships of the head, practice drawing from a live model, guided by anatomical demonstrations and instruction, work with anatomical illustrations created by Rachel to support observation and deepen understanding.
