"Drawing and Painting Open Studio"
November 26, 2024, 1-4pm

This will be an Open Studio with Sue Archer as the instructor available. These classes have been set up with the intent of helping the attendees with their drawing and painting skills and to move on to finished drawings and or paintings that you personally want to do. You may work with your own references and bring in your own still life that you are working from. Each day there will be a studio still-life set up; a model’s picture(s) on the monitor; and photos of landscapes to work from. However, you will be encouraged to take your own photos of landscapes and bring them to the studio.

"Beyond the Photo: Capturing Light and Essence in Watercolors"
March 10-12, 2025

This workshop will equip you with the skills and knowledge to break free from photo references and create artworks that resonate with the light and atmosphere of plein air painting. We will move beyond simply copying photographs & instead focus on creating painterly and convincing watercolors that capture the essence of plein air work. The key to this transformation is learning how to paint light rather than just rendering objects as they appear in the photo. As a professional artist, understanding how to paint light is what sets you apart.
