"Pysanky Egg Dyeing"
March 21, 2026

Discover the rich tradition and intricate beauty of Eastern European egg decorating in this hands-on workshop. Using beeswax and vibrant dyes, you’ll learn the historic art of wax-resist egg coloring—an age-old practice passed down through generations. This class will focus on the pin-drop technique, a delicate and detailed method that creates stunning, symmetrical patterns one tiny drop at a time. Perfect for beginners and craft lovers alike, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to slow down, focus, and create something truly special. You’ll leave with your own beautifully decorated egg and the skills to continue this meditative and meaningful art form at home.

"High Drama: Colored Pencil on Dark Paper"
March 28-29, 2026

The specific technique you will learn is a layering of pencil applied with light pressure, creating color intensity and a means to add minute detail. With intense color on a dark background the image (of your choice) punches and acts as a magnet for a viewer. We’ll review contemporary pencil artists and what good composition is, you’ll do an exercise sheet with multiple stroke application techniques, and begin a customized artwork of your own subject in your own composition, and you’ll be able to work at your own pace in class, finishing the piece on your own beyond the class timeframe.

Creating an analog collage piece allows you to create entirely new worlds and subjects from found images and backgrounds. Whether you’re interested in approaching collage from a surrealist angle (the artist’s main focus) or from a more abstract or mosaic perspective, at Intro to Analog Collage, you will learn the basics of using found images to create your own works of art. We’ll discuss different methods of making art using collage, and I’ll provide source material from which we will cut out, place, and glue into position the images, backgrounds, and textures that will become your unique creation.
